First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) & Continuing Education (CE)

First Responder (emergency medical responder)

This course is for individuals who would like basic level medical knowledge and are interested in emergency medical services. This course is not a prerequisite for the Emergency Medical Technician program, but does provide an introduction to assisting other medical professionals in the field. Potential candidates include police officers, firefighters, company safety personnel, lifeguards, search and rescue organization members and others.

 

Applicants must be a high school graduate (or GED), and at least 18 years of age with the ability to lift 125 pounds without assistance. All applicants are required to submit to background checks including criminal history, family services, sex offender registry and drug screening.

 

This program adheres to the United States Department of Transportation's National Standard Curriculum. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to sit for the National Registry of EMTs written examination.

Course Length: 48H

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

This 144 hour program is for individuals who desire to work in the emergency medical services field such as a fire department, ambulance service or hospital emergency department . This highly interactive program will challenge participants to work cohesively as part of a team, use critical thinking skills and perform tasks in stressful situations. Students will learn patient assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment of medical conditions and traumatic injuries, pediatric and geriatric challenges, airway management, medication administration, anatomy an physiology, plus much more.

 

Applicants must be a high school graduate (or GED), and at least 18 years of age with the ability to lift 125 pounds without assistance. All applicants are required to submit to background checks including criminal history, driving record, family services, sex offender registry and drug screening.

 

This program adheres to the United States Department of Transportation's National Standard Curriculum, and National EMS Education Standards. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to sit for the State of Illinois EMT Basic written examination or National Registry of EMTs written examination. Students are also eligible for State of Missouri licensing exam and skills testing.

Course Length: 144H

EMS core Refresher

This program is for current EMT Basics or Paramedics who require a core content refresher for re-licensure or for candidates who require a refresher for re-testing purposes.

 

This program adheres to the United States Department of Transportation's National Standard Curriculum.

 

Participants must be present for all classroom sessions. Certificates will be issued upon successful completion.
